The following are examples of digital stories.  What skills, knowledge, and understandings do students exhibit in each of these products?   

 

Grade Cam - Created by Stephanie Wills, this story presents a convincing argument for adopting the Grade Cam program so that teachers can spend more time teaching and less time grading papers. 

 

Flipping the Classroom- Created by Cynthia Baker, this story is an overview of how "flipping" can benefit learners and lead to more time on task.

 

Nothing Gold Can Stay (poetry analysis)

 

Tourette's Syndrome

This documentary, by Katie LaTulippe portrays the challenges of living with Tourette's syndrome, especially for teens.

 

Global Learning

Alicia Bauman created this digital story to encourage teachers to move beyond the walls of their classrooms and begin collaborative projects with classrooms around the world.

 

Cyberbullying

Did you know that 32% of teens have experienced some form of harrassment through the Internet?  Brittany Reichle created this digital story to help raise teacher/parent awareness about the serious problem of cyber-bullying. 

 

Digital Footprints

Do you have a digital footprint?  (Of course, you do!)  What does your footprint say about you?  Does it communicate the image you want others to see?  Katie Shoulta created this digital story to help pre-service teachers recognize the importance of digital citizenship.

 

Cyberbullying--What Can Students Do to Protect Themselves?

Lauren Koch created this digital story to help teens understand that they are not alone--and that they are not powerless against the threat of cyber bullying.

This is a story I created using Story Bird.

These stories were created by students in grades 1-9 in a school district in Georgetown, Kentucky. 

 

Tessellations

A tessellation is created when a shape is repeated over and over again covering a plane without any gaps or overlaps.  This Photo Story illuminates the concept and demonstrates how you can use Microsoft Paint to create a tessellation.

 

Lab Safety

Joel Deye created this Photo Story to reinforce lab safety principles for his chemistry students.

 

Embryonic Reproduction

This digital story was written and narrated by Stephanie Stewart.  Itr provides information and examples of oviparous, aplacental and viviparous embryonic reproduction.  (Mature content.)

  

Butterfly

This is an example of a science/research project that could be completed by students in grade 3.

 

Art Portfolio

George Canfield, a, pre-service art teacher created this digital  portfolio of his work.

 

Monitor verses Virginia 

Michael Ricco, a pre-service social studies teacher, created this digital story to on the Civil War naval battle between the USS Monitor and CSS Virginia.

 

Cyberbullying

This mini-documentary was produced by a team of pre-service teachers at NKU.
